“When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me?” –Psalm 56:3–4
As the world around us faces fear and insecurity, there is not a better place to be than at church with God’s people, reflecting on the sovereignty, providence, and goodness of our Lord. We were looking forward to our normal Sunday fellowship and worship. But we have been ordered by the state authorities to limit gatherings to 50 people or less, which means we are unable to meet together. Though we can’t personally be together, it doesn’t mean we can’t meet around the Word of God. Pastor Dave will be speaking to us via live stream Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. for the foreseeable future. You will find a link to the service on our website: plainfieldbible.org. You can also access the livestream at sermonaudio.com or via the sermonaudio app on your smartphone, tablet or Smart TV. Also, until further notice, the evening services will be cancelled. Care groups will continue at the discretion of group leaders, and we encourage you to stay in touch with your ministry leader for specific details. If you are at an elevated risk by attending, please remain at home. Let’s remember the words of Hebrews 10:24–25, “and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”
This is a good reminder to all of us that we live in an uncertain world and our confidence and trust is only found in the sovereignty of God. God reigns over everything and has predetermined that which is good for all of us within His kingdom (Romans 8:28–32). This is also an opportunity to encourage and strengthen the people of God as well as an opening for the gospel in our community. For those of you who may be anxious, remember the words of Isaiah to trust in the Lord: “The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You” (Isaiah 26:3). Our elders are committed to serving you, and we encourage you to contact us if you have any spiritual need.
Also, thank you for continuing in your faithful giving to PBC during this unprecedented time. As you are aware, we still must meet our financial obligations here and with our missionaries around the world. Since giving is an important part of our worship and ongoing ministry, we are encouraging you to give online, or if you still use offering envelopes, please either drop off your offering at the church any morning during the week or send it via mail.
You can view the sermons at any time after they are uploaded, but I encourage you to stay in the habit of “going to church” with your family at the same time each week. Join us every Sunday via live stream in your homes along with your family, friends, and neighbors as we worship, pray, and continue to be encouraged and equipped from the Word of God. We are praying for you during this time, and we look forward to when we can gather corporately once again in the near future.
Soli Deo Gloria,
