Committed to Sanctification
These groups exist to help Christians grow to be more and more like Jesus. Since PBC is blessed with solid biblical teaching in every corporate venue, the focus of these groups will be on applying the word of God, which is essential to growth (James 1:22-24; Matthew 7:24-29).
Active Biblical Fellowship
These groups exist to promote biblical fellowship, which is where believers come together to worship together, study and apply scripture together, encourage and correct each other, and communicate to one another how God is working in our lives (Acts 2:42-46; Romans 15:14; Hebrews 10:24-25).
Receiving and Giving Care
These groups exist to foster opportunities to love and care for one another. Picture a group where you can carry each other’s burdens (Gal. 6:2), pray for one another (James 5:16) and weep with those who are hurting (Romans 12:15). The reality is that the pastors and even the leadership of PBC cannot meet the needs of each member, but in a CARE group there will be people there to encourage you and you will be able to give care to someone else.
Experiencing and Exercising the Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Lastly, these groups exist to provide ways for Christians to use their spiritual gifts to build up the body of Christ (Eph. 4:11-13; 1 Cor. 12:4-11). Scripture is clear that the Holy Spirit resides in each Christian and each Christian has been given a spiritual gift. In a CARE group, there will be opportunities for serving other members of your CARE group, another CARE group, or maybe even a neighbor of a member of your CARE group.
